I’m Soooo … Tired ….
Today is Friday – thankfully. I am absolutely exhausted (mentally and physically) and my wrists hurt from so much computer time. I would like to think that I can rest this weekend, but I know that no matter what happens today at work, I will not be able to. I am supposed to go up to Aceh next Tuesday (and return to Jakarta on Friday). If I do that, then I have to work this weekend on a presentation for a VIP that is coming in … as well as updating some procedures. If I don’t go to Aceh next week (more on that in a minute), then I need to spend time this weekend working on a special project …. as well as updating some procedures. So, either way, I have to work this weekend.
Over the past 3 weekends, I have worked quite a bit on understanding the requirements associated with developing an emergency response plan. We have many such plans in place, but this one is associated with a special scenario. We have some people that are “lost in the woods” on this one, and have wasted a year and tens of thousands of dollars in consulting fees – achieving nothing. I have been the guy that stood up and said “the king has no clothes”. Well, it appears (based on the way this is evolving) that I will probably be the guy making the king some clothes. The problem is, it is a tremendous amount of work and HAS to be done by end-June. Depending on how things go, I might have to cancel my trip back to the US in June.
We have another meeting with the Country Manager today to talk about the “way forward”. He will also take a decision today (I think) on whether or not I go on the trip to Aceh … or stay here and continue working on this special project. Either way, I have to work this weekend.
I really want to spend time with Decy tonight (Friday) …. and I need a massage (my back hurts) … and this weekend is Thasya’s fashion show (the last event which is associated with the modelling classes she took). I don’t know how I can do everything this weekend – and rest.
Speaking of Thasya … she returns from her school trip Bali this afternoon. Keep her in prayers for safe travelling.
