I’m Back
Ah the joys of being in Aceh. Do you know what the best part of being in Aceh is? Getting to leave ! Now don’t get me wrong – there are lots of good things about Aceh – for example the country side and scenery are absolutely beautiful (so green and lush), many of the people are very nice. Its just that for a bule (American) in Aceh, living inside the processing facilities, it is just incredibly boring, slow, and “anti-energy”.
Plus, the room (1/2 of a container) I had this time absolutely sucked – but the place was packed with visitors, so it was the only room available. So what sucked about it? Well, first, the toilet didn’t work – so if I wanted to do anything but pee I had to go to the office building. Second, the a/c leaked and sprayed droplets of water everywhere. Third, the desk chair “hydraulics” were broken and it would “sink” every time I sat in it; thus, putting my nose at desk level. Also, the chair was unstable and I fell off of it one time …. aside from that, there’s nothing like working from 5am to 10pm.
Nevertheless, the meetings in Aceh were productive and we achieved what we wanted to achieve. As for today (Friday), I have another big meeting with about 40 people to discuss the emergency plan we have been working on. We are trying to improve the plan’s overall quality and consistency and are working towards releasing a 2nd draft on Friday the 15th. But, that is only if people get their changes to me on time (fat chance !).
As for the family here in Jakarta – well, today is the last day of school – its a PARTY DAY !!! And soon, Thasya will be in 8th grade and Chely will be a SENIOR !! hey hey hey. Regarding taking everybody out to the revolving restaurant – can’t do it … its under renovation. Thus, we need to find another venue.
Guess that’s it for today …. so I will close.
ciao ciao

Yay, dinner! Not alone, though. As cute as I am, I have to be careful. Are you still bringing the CD of all of the CO pictures? I would really enjoy it!
