Fried Bananas …

Actually, its more like “fried nerves”. Last night I went out to dinner with Decy and the girls at a Lebanese restaurant in Le Meridian hotel. Every sound, every sudden movement made me jerk and react – I’m wired with 440 Volts right now. During the course of the evening I relaxed … but still, this is no way to “live” …

So what caused the stress? You know – the emergency plan I am working on. Here we are just work hours away from sending the 2nd version of the document to the printers and suddenly my “team” has revisions to their department’s section of the document. A) it was a day late, B) they didn’t turn on “track changes” in Microsoft Word [as instructed], and C) they didn’t even use the most current version of their section – so they were modifying the wrong document. AARRGGHH Charlie Brown. Nevertheless, I worked through that and by 530pm last night, I was able to send the ever growing document to the printers. All going well (ergo the absence of an equipment malfunction) the 2nd draft should be released on Friday the 15th – as per the plan. Next step – another meeting and final closure ….

On a lighter side, you might ask why we were at Le Meridian in the middle of the week. Well, the club there (Tiga Puluh, which means “30″ in Bahasa Indonesia) was having a private “Members Appreciation” event. It was to show off their new band and modest renovations. It was a pretty good evening – all four of us were there … got home and to bed about 12 midnight / 1215am …. up at 330am.

The new band has two guys on keyboards. One keyboard guy also plays the sax (very nice sound as well as unusual for a club in Jakarta) and does backup and lead singing. I find this particular guy amazing to watch – often times he is playing the sax and using the “high pads” with his left hand ….. while at the same time keyboarding with his right hand. Then every once in a while he flips his head to the microphone and sings a bit of backup before going back to the sax.

*** oh, Sumi is up early and told be that breakfast (cereal or porridge) is ready … gotta run … will be back later if I can.

ciao ciao
