Thunking Thursday
Seems the days are becoming a blur >>>> work, meetings, problem solving, meetings, damage control, explanations, meetings, yadi, yadi. It is grueling … and getting worse. 2008 will be even more challenging as we install an SAP accounting system – for which I am the only one in the local affiliate that has experience in this type of event. The only consolation in this is the large raise I received this year – coupled with last year’s promotion. It looks like things are starting to pick up for me financially and with at least some special recognition from the company.
I am hoping to increase the staff in my group to help cover the base business as I help with SAP … but “hoping” and “getting” more staff are two different things.
On the home front, Chely, Decy, and I continue to progress college applications / forms / etc. Getting some financial information on me (on official paper) has been a challenge and will soon cause a bottleneck – if that doesn’t break loose soon. So far, only one school has a 1-Dec deadline for application submissions ….. while the others seem more flexible …. but ….
Decy is actively working on Christmas preparations. We have a very large list given the extended family and given that we are going to host the annual Christmas dinner again. Last year it was Decy’s mom and bro’s/sis’s and their family. This year it will be the same plus 2-3 sets of aunts and uncles – but NOT ALL !!!! Chris and Paul will play Santa Claus. Which reminds me …. I saw the Christmas tree (in a box) in the entryway … guess it is almost time to put up the tree.
As for Thasya – she continues to do well in school. She has essentially overcome the “english as a second language” issues – although at times she struggles a bit. But, she is clearly “on track”.
Rainy season has started in full force and effect. Already we are having localized flooding on an almost daily basis. It just depends on where it rains and for how long. Hopefully we will not have a repeat of last February.
Well, need to close it is 518am … and I have to leave for the office in a few minutes.
ciao ciao ….
