Time Moves Forward

And, once again, it is Monday morning (at least for me, already). Yep, already 4:20am. Overall the weekend went pretty well. Didn’t get as much work done as I needed to – but did balance the activities so that I had time with the family.

Lately the work schedule has been pretty tough, including working all day – both days – last weekend. So, I wanted to start this weekend off on good ground. I made a promise to Decy that I would not check my blackberry after I got home and through the evening. Soooo – had a nice quiet dinner (although I always avoid checking the BB while dining) all four of us, then Decy and I retreated to the bedroom. We headed into our spacious bathroom, turned the lights down low, and crawled into the oversized bathtub. There, we relaxed and chatted – then headed to the bed where we promptly fell asleep. Yep, that what overly tired old folks do !!

On Saturday, I got on the treadmill and did my normal run: 15.2 km, 897 calories, 100 minutes. While I was doing that, Decy went shopping and picked up some more Christmas stuff. During the afternoon, I worked while the staff and Decy decorated the Xmas tree. Didn’t do the tree as a family tradition this year – just too many things going on and neither Chely nor Thasya were available. I had to remind folks (several times) of the appropriate (and safe) way to decorate the tree: 1) move all the presents out of the way to eliminate tripping hazards, 2) put the lights on the tree – AFTER checking to see if they work, 3) put on the ornaments, 4) put on the rest of the stuff.

Also on Saturday, Thasya had a volleyball game (won one; lost one) and then had to go “make a baby” … hey ! its not what you think !! She had a bag of rice and then had to buy stuff to turn the rice into a ragdoll baby for her health class. Saturday evening, Chely went out to dinner for a friend’s birthday. Decy and I stayed home and did a bit of karaoke. During the evening we had two sets of family guests stop by: Dino with Dolly (Decy’s bro and sister) and then Dona (Decy’s bro) with his girlfriend Susanne.

Sunday, we all got up and went to the 4 Seasons hotel for brunch. It seems that during Saturday night, Chely tripped and fell – she bruised her hip and hit her shin on a step. Hip seems to be ok. The shin is incredibly sensitive. I am concerned she might have a hairline fracture. We are going to watch it again today. If the sensitivity of the leg isn’t improved (diminished), Decy is going to take her to get an x-ray.

I’ll backtrack to something at work on Friday. At 3pm there was a recognition event for the team that worked on the Pandemic Bird Flu Plan (remember that challenge back in March – June ?) Anyway, unbeknownst to me the event was primarily focused on the “core group” that coordinated the event – of which I was the leader. All of the core members (4, including me) received a very nice plaque of appreciation, signed by our Country President. It was quite a surprise.

Well, with that note, I need to close – I have some more paperwork to progress on Chely’s college applications.

ciao ciao
