Decy and Chely – In Chicago
Decy and Chely have arrived safely in Chicago. They are waiting for the connection to Newark … which is in about 90 minutes from the time I am writing this. Other than turbulance on the Hong Kong to Chicago flight all seems to have gone pretty well – no issues with immigration and the luggage arrived fine.
On the other side – Grandma Suzy, she is having some challenges. Seems the wheelchair guy wasn’t very helpful (unlike in Tennessee in April), then Hertz didn’t have the right size car available – tried to give her a super sized 8 passenger van … and then a compact … finally ended up with a Lincoln Towncar (yeah !!!!!). Then, directions to the hotel (0nly 2.5 miles away) were sucky. Then, at the hotel nobody would help her with the luggage. Then, power went out at the hotel and nobody knows when it will be back on …. no lights, no A/C, no TV. PRAY FOR GRANDMA SUZY !!
As for Thasya, this is a big day for her … 8th grade graduation. I am leaving work at noon so that I have plenty of time / contingency (against traffic) to be at the school on time. As a bit of celebration – Thasya went out to dinner with some of her friends on Sunday (my treat). They went to a place that specializes in suchi and desserts … what a combination. BUT, they seemed to have enjoyed that.
As for me …. I’m ok …. moving forward at work and trying to stay focused. While Decy is gone I am working on my electronic picture frame that I received for my 50th birthday. I am assembling the pics to load on the memory chip. It will take a lot of time because I have so many I want to load …. step by step.
