Drawing to a Close
All good things must come to an end – and for Decy this trip is almost over. On Wednesday she and grandma Suzy drive to New Jersey to catch planes on Thursday – Decy arrives in Jakarta on Saturday morning. I haven’t had a chance to touch base with folks in Connecticut this morning – it is because Chely is currently at a clinic to get a menengitis shot – this was a bit of a frustration (I’ll blog on that sometime). I do know that Chely spent Monday night in the dorm and was up bright and early (530am?) getting ready for her first full day at UCAELI. She had to catch the “school bus” (he he he) to be shuttled to her classroom (sounds like the dorm is a long ways from the UCAELI building. Gee, I just remembered – Chely has no maid service at the dorm. That means she had to make her bed this morning (he he he …. step by step … this is a learning experience)
I’m not sure what today entailed, I think a bit more orientation and discussing the program … then a shopping run if necessary. I know that Decy was going to take Chely some overlooked items, like broadband cable for dorm room and umbrella.
I understand that Chely is trying to make some friends there – there’s only about 40 students in the summer program, including a 45 YO guy from Turkey (who isn’t living in the dorm). Chely/Decy say that most of the students are Chinese, and Chely shares the bathroom with two of them (Chinese GIRLS that is).
Thasya was with a friend yesterday (Tuesday) and went to watch Kung Foo Panda (don’t know if it was in English or Bahasa Indonesia). Traffic was bad and she didn’t make it home until about 830pm. Today she will be with a bunch of Korean friends – apparently Wednesday is their “day off” from studies and tutoring. Then on Thursday Thasya’s been invited to go see MTV-Indonesia. Not yet sure what her Friday plans are.
As for me …. well, its 12-14 hrs/day of work … and ~5 hrs/night of broken sleep. I will be glad when Decy returns. Actually, yesterday was a strange day at work and I spent quite a bit of time on process improvements and a new controls related poster. Depending on some feedback from Houston, I will like forward them my process improvement, which should help the entire company … for those that want to use it.
Other than the above, not much to blog about. So, I will close this and work on some other things.
Ciao ciao.
