Normality – Almost
Well, Decy has made it back to Indonesia safely and soundly. No real travel issues – just a little stress in Chicago when she rushed to her next gate only to learn (as I SMS’d her) that she had more time than she thought due to a time zone change. he he he.
I pretty much followed Decy all the way from the US … and barely slept for the last 3 days. On Saturday night I was texting her at midnight and 2am to make sure she was awake in Singapore. Then again at about 530 / 6am to ensure she would not miss her flight to Jakarta. Then I promptly fell asleep and almost missed riding with Pak Yono to the airport – argh !!!!
I did quite a bit of work while waiting for Decy, including loading more pictures on my 4gig chip for my electronic pic frame. The frame is now 75% full. I took the frame to work last week and it was a real hit. Speaking of work, lots to do at the office this week – but I will manage.
BTW, Decy is up wandering around the house right now (445am), obviously – jetlag as she NEVER gets up with me in the morning.
This coming weekend we are leading a community action program which is being underwritten by my company. We have upgraded some rooms in a school, will be donating 7 computers, UPS, and printers, and spending the day with about 500 children. We will have about 25 volunteers with us …. security, etc. It should be a very fun day ….. as well as important for the children. This has been a bit frustrating because our company’s processes need improvement (less controls, more trust on employee led programs) but we managed through it. The most important thing is that the children benefit from the event.
No doubt Thasya is glad that Decy is home …. although Decy was in / out all day Sunday. Normality returns today – or at least “begins to return” today.
Tomorrow, Tuesday, we are having about 15 dinner guests over. They are our SAP programmers who are installing a new accounting, procurement, payables, warehouse, and maintenance system. A lot of the programmers worked with me in Angola (2002-2003) so it will be almost like a family reunion. The programmers wanted to do it over the weekend but could not because Decy wasn’t here – and can’t next week because many of them will begin leaving (for a while) beginning this Thursday. Guess we will all be dragging a bit on Wednesday …. but … it will be worth it.
BTW, both Josh and Chris have posted some new blogs that may be of interest. Josh’s was of their house in Alabama. Chris’s was of a free fall swing in a gorge in Africa (4 second freefall). I think my links still work … go check it out. If you can’t find my links, use these: www.thechrismorgan.com and www.diaryofdaniel.wordpress.com I have also heard from Paul (his website is broken). He is having a great time in Chile – only has another 2 weeks to go ….
Well, breakfast is ready and I need to say hi to my bride.
Ciao ciao

The pictures on Daniel’s blog keep going screwy. Hopefully I can get it sorted out, but they’re down at the moment.
