Another Lonely Holiday

I absolutely hate the fact that I am here alone in Indonesia while the family is in the US. I don’t resent them being there – its that I am unhappy with the fact that I couldn’t be there too. While I recognize being the SAP Startup Manager for our installation has an impact on my ability to go … but, over a year ago plans were put in place to ensure adequate transition coverage … long before I even knew I was going to be in this key position. Regrettably, management did not follow thru on their commitments / plans.

So, here I am – burning three wonderful holidays in a two week period – ALONE. What a waste of my time. And, by the time Decy and Thasya return (with my mom) I will be so swamped with work (start-up related) I won’t have time to enjoy their company. Then, when things are finally starting to normalize a bit (mid-February) … Decy will be taking my mother back to the USA. UUURRRGGGHHHH !!!! all these travel plans were put in place before I knew about this position.

On an entirely different topic, I tried another Tempo Run today. I’m not sure I improved much, if any. Perhaps I should have given myself more rest …. but I would have thought that two days would have been enough. Anyway … when I tried my first sprint (@ 12.5kms/hr) I could only do 4 minutes … which was considerably less than the 6 on Saturday. On the second sprint, however, (@ 13 kms/hr) I did 6 minutes, which was better than the 4 last time. And, on the third sprint … I stepped up to 14 kms/hr (never been that high before) and maintained it (barely) for 4 minutes, which was much better than the 2 mintes @ 13.5 kms/hr on Saturday. After some cool down, I stopped at 55 minutes having covered 8.6 kms and burned 480 calories.

I think my Lactose Tolerance is going up …. but I still feel like I “should” be able to run longer – even if I can’t run faster. Guess it is going to be a gradual process. Assuming that I don’t go out celebrating on New Years Eve, I will likely try another run on 1-Jan …. or certainly next weekend.

For the avoidance of doubt, even after the cool down, my legs were all “tingley” (sp) after the run for about an hour. And now, 3 hours later, my legs are really sore. Also, I’m not sure that running is helping me lose much weight – as my legs are starting to bulk up. But, it is coming from my tummy and other fat – so I guess I can’t complain (too much).

ciao ciao

Yeah, I really miss running. My knee started hurting after the first 5k, and it never quit. I’m afraid I’m going to have to go see a doctor about it.
