Daylight Savings Time Already?

Just heard from some folks that the US switched over to DST. Wow, what a surprise. Of course, it would have been nice if one of my family members had told me. Indonesia, like most countries, do not have DST … thus, unless somebody says something to folks like me, we tend to forget about it. Oh well, good news is that the time zones are a bit more compatible.

What a wild weekend I just went through. Most of it was spent working with the SAP team on closing our accounting books for February – which we successfully did yesterday, Tuesday, at 1215pm. This was about 2 hours later than anticipated / scheduled. However, last time we tried to close the books with our new system it took 38 hours of work. This time it took about 33 hours, including about 5 hours to make a very special accounting adjustment. Thus, we were able to shave about 10 hours off of the close schedule. We need to continue compressing the schedule as (typically) we only have 2 days to close the books …. and 38 hours of work in 2 days is simply unacceptable.

As for my new job, I am quickly trying to transfer my activities and responsibilities to the incoming Startup Manager. Rhonda McKay, my replacement will likely be in that position only 1-2 months as we wind down these activities. Except for helping with closing the March books, I will be transitioned out of my current position around 25 March.

There is much to do to gear up for my new position in the Planning and Commercial group and need to do many things over the next few weeks. Our annual planning cycle is already beginning and I need to help with that process. I am VERY excited about my new postion. Its a better fit with my skills, I get to help “build” a new department, I will again be involved in commercial sales and distribution, and it allows us to stay in Indonesia for another three years.

On a different matter, Decy had her grand opening yesterday (Tuesday) at the salon. She is very excited (but nervous) about this. The salon had 5 customers – with no advertising – Yahoo !!! She is going to be very busy over the next few weeks and will have to work on weekends as things gear up. I have promised to be patient with her work and hours. She has been incredibly patient with me – and now it is my turn to return the favors.

Monday, which was a holiday here, Decy and I had about 12 guests (The SAP Team) over to our house for rest, relaxation, dinner, and karaoke. It was a great time and we stayed busy until mid-night … which was a key driver in my not blogging yesterday. I fell asleep at my PC (at home) when I went to blog – my staff had to wake me up to go to work. he he he.

I need to take care of some other things …. ciao ciao
