Salon Update & Aetna Blast

First something positive – Decy’s salon had 5 customers yesterday. PTL !!! Sounds like the quiet and professional environment is creating quite a buzz with some of the residents in the area. But, we should not get too excited yet – it is a daily step-by-step process and more customers are needed to break even. But, we are excited that on a Monday, which is typically a very quiet day for salons she had so many customers.

Now for an “Aetna Blast” – Aetna is our company’s insurance provider. Generally speaking they have been quite good at processing claims. Lately, they have been unacceptably poor. Being overseas creates a unique challenge in that we have to pay our medical bills in cash and then seek reimbursement. I usually save up the bills until I have a reasonably sized (efficient) batch to process. So, in December after all the 2008 expenses were incurred I batched everything up and faxed it to Aetna.

After waiting nearly 2 months and seeing nothing getting processed I complained. So, they processed the claims on Chely and Thasya. They said they never received the other claims (not true, everything was faxed together). So, I refaxed the claims on Decy and me. Nothing. They claimed they never received them. So, I re-refaxed the claims on Decy and me. Finally, the DENTAL claims were processed but not MEDICAL claims – but I have yet to receive the reimbursement. I complained again and they said “it will be processed within the next 24 hours” – Nothing. Soooooo …. I am going to once again have to fax these claims. This is absolutely absurd and unacceptable. Grrrrrrr

And, with that wonderful note … I have some work I need to do. Ciao ciao

glad to hear the salon is having success on a monday! yay!
I never did like faxing things to people–you never know if they ‘really’ got the papers… oh well.
PS-I am sending you a lengthy ‘update’ email soon :)
