FLAME: I Hate AETNA
In continuation of yesterday’s blog regarding Aetna’s refusal to process a claim for the first of Decy’s two dental implants, I professionally and politely explained to Aetna that I have ALREADY submitted the information they requested and provided proof that I did so in 2007. In fact, I attached an e-copy of the pre-determination submission to my email. Of course, the person insisting that I send the information is the exact same person I sent it to in 2007. The only thing I was not able to resubmit via email was Decy’s panoramic x-ray … of which, we don’t exactly keep copies lying around.
Aetna has insisted that I submit (ahem, resubsmit) the panoramic …. What really upsets me is that they won’t even acknowledge that I have already sent the information – much less that they have lost it. This request will cost me $50-$70 …. getting a new panoramic and DHL’ing it to the USA. Additionally, it takes time out of Decy’s and my very busy schedules and delays this claim process by yet another month.
This is yet again another example of Aetna’s incredible incompetence – recall that in Dec-08 thru Mar-09 I had to send Aetna medical and dental receipts 4 times because they kept losing some of the pages. Now, it appears they have lost our 2007 pre-determination information. Every time, they refuse to even acknowledge receipt / loss … they just stay silent.
I HATE AETNA !!!! Sadly, I have no flexibility and must respond accordingly …. I cannot put at risk over $4,000 in current and upcoming dental bills this year …. and Aetna has all the power in this situation.

On a different note, this week’s work challenges continue to rage on. Yesterday I was up at 250am and started working well before I left home at 530am. I worked until 8am and then went to a dinner with a business and personal friend visiting from Russia. Got home after 1130pm and asleep around mid-night. I was up again at 250am … and am blogging, and soon working. I have to leave for the office at 5am as I have a Houston telecon at 6am. Tonight I have another dinner to go to …. and then will have to be up at 250am on Friday.
Then on Friday, after working all day, I have a retirement dinner to attend … by then, my buns are really going to be dragging.
Saturday I will TRY to run on the treadmill if I have the energy … but it may slip until Sunday. Saturday night I have yet again ANOTHER dinner I need to attend.
On that note, I need to close this blog / flame … I need to continue working …. FLAME ON !!!! SHAME ON YOU AETNA !!!! I HATE YOU.
