Old Dog – New Tricks
Survived another weekend although I am not nearly as rested as I should be … nor wanted to be. Of course, still fighting a cold. Came home on Friday night at my currently “normal” 845pm. Ate dinner and went to bed. I was up bright and early (4am) and in the office by 630am (on Saturday). Had planned on working with two staff members trying to teach them how to rack up / consolidate cost forecasts but instead spent the entire day trying to troubleshoot data that we had loaded into our planning tool. By 6pm I was wiped out …. and headed to the Darmawanza Hotel for dinner with Terry, Samantha, daughter Courtney and niece Jordan. At about 7pm, we were joined by Decy, Chely, Thasya.
We ate dinner outside and as usual, the hotel had a band playing. They were playing “Wake Up Little Susie” and were about 30 feet from me. I tried something crazy. I whipped out my new Blackberry Bold and turned on the recorder. I tried picking up the music but was too far away … then Samantha and I talked into the phone. Afterwards, I emailed it to my mom. She received it … he he he … but couldn’t hear the music. Oh well, maybe next time.
Then, I took a picture of Chely with the BB Bold and emailed it to her boyfriend in the US (at least that is what I tried to do). Didn’t hear back from him so don’t know if he ever got it.
So, I guess you can teach an old dog new tricks … if you are patient enough.
As for Sunday, I slept in …. something very badly needed. About mid morning Decy and I got up … she went to the salon and I went to the upstairs for running. Chely and Thasya just hung out. About this “old dog” …. before running I was stretching and my right knee didn’t feel right … after lots of stretching … I did my normal 100 minutes. I was trying desperately to break 16km in the 100 minutes. Sadly, I only made it to 15.6km. That last 0.4km eludes me … always. The only way I can achieve it is if I can run three 5k’s in splits of about 31 minutes each … total 93 minutes … so I have 7 minutes to run the last km. This is incredibly hard for me to do – and so far, unachievable.
Afterwards my knee was very sore. I laid down and cooled down. Then showered. Had lunch with Chely and Thasya – then Chely went to Decy’s salon. Thasya disappeared and I started working. Worked until 5pm and then shut down for the evening to relax and watch TV. Decy came home early which was very nice.
Finally, off to sleep at 10pm and up at 315am. Not bad … overall probably just at (or under) 5 hrs. But, 8 would have been very beneficial with my current workload and head cold.
Well folks, need to close this blog. It is already 442am and I need to take care of some things before leave for work.
Ciao Ciao. GBU.

As for teaching an old dog new tricks, the old dog must be intelligent in order to learn. So what does that say for you now?
