Phew – mid year already ….
Its hard to believe it is 1 July and that already half of 2009 has gone by. And, it is amazing how fast things can change work-wise. Although some folks may not think much has changed (I’m still in Indonesia) … this time last year I was busy working away as a Controls Advisor thinking I had another full year ++ in the position. Then in September I find out I am going to be the IPES (SAP) Start-up Manager … and whammo I’m it by 1 October 2008. Then I find out I am going to be the Planning and Commercial Advisor …. and whammo I’m it by 1 April 2009. There’s been a few very early discussions about “what’s next” but it is far to early to predict what might actually happen and when – but I’m watching the calendar as Thasya is a Senior in high school for 2011/12.
I haven’t talked much about my Commercial activities, but those are moving along. I am involved in crude and sulfur sales for our Aceh operation. And I am involved in negotiating two sales contracts for our new Java / Cepu operation. The new operation will begin around late August … and once up and running my staff will also administer the contract (similar to what is being done for the Aceh-related sales).
We made some good progress on our planning activities over the last few days … but it is a very long, slow haul and the plan won’t be officially submitted until the end of August.
I received an advertisement from Club Mistere at the Ritz Carlton. They are having a special 4th of July celebration on Saturday. It has been a very long time since I went to a Club (approx late April) and I had wanted to go to Mistere last week, but didn’t. However, we (Decy, Chely, Thasya, and I) were talking about Mistere last night. There’s a reasonable chance we will go …. Chely certainly wants to … and I want to. I think Decy wants to but there is the issue of working the next day.
Speaking of Decy’s work, she said the salon expansion is largely done – I think there is still some outside work to do, such as building a waiting room … and they still need to finish the showers. She said most of the furniture was moved into place and she was amazed at how it looked. She’s excited about the expansion and said she might have a “soft opening” where she gives a special 50% discount until the showers are funtional. Her “grand opening” event is targetted for 1 August.
BTW – I understand I have a new “reader” …. Chely’s bo … Cory. Hi Cory !!! I’m taking good care of your girl … and I expect you to do the same when she gets back to Tennessee. She misses you. She’s been a “good girl” while she is here – but clearly wants to get back to the USA. Her heart is clearly pointing towards the US and no longer Indonesia.
On an entirely different note, it is amazing what work can do to one’s focus sometimes. Got up yesterday … shower, shaved, etc. Headed off to work without eating breakfast. Hit the activities first thing in the morning at 6am and completely missed lunch. Next thing I knew it was 815pm and I was heading home (early vs Monday night) …. and I had my first bite of food in the car … and sandwich.
*** BTW, last I heard my daughter-in-law Liz is/was expected to be induced and deliver little Alex on 30 June. I haven’t yet heard any news … but I am closely watching my Yahoo and company emails.
Gotta go. Ciao ciao. GBU

Congratulation to Josh, Liz and Alex!!! Also to OPA !! =)>
Love you all !!
