Tangkuban Parahu
Today I will start my blog on a personal note.
Today (Wednesday) Decy, Chely, and Thasya will be joining with Samatha, Jordan, and Laverne for a quick trip to Bandung. They are leaving early this morning and will return late tomorrow evening. While there they will visit Tankuban Parahu …. an essentially dormant volcano which still emits some steam and has a few small hot water / mud pits. Some of my readers know exactly where I am talking about. S, J, L have never been to TP … and the girls need a break …. sooooo …..
Also in our life – yesterday morning while coming to work – Decy’s brother Dona (our 2nd driver) was hit from the rear by a car while driving his motorcycle to our house. Sadly the driver took off and didn’t lend assistance. Dona’s left shoulder is broken (the collar bone snapped) but other than that he is ok. There are several options available for him, only one of which provides him a good future and that is to have surgery on the shoulder to repair the bone. Without the surgery he will lose most of the use of his left side. There is some insurance on Dona but not nearly enough to cover this type of event. And, clearly, Dona doesn’t have the money to cover something that is equivalent to about 1 year’s salary. Nevertheless, I cannot standby and not do anything – otherwise, Dona will be disabled for life. Final decisions will be taken on Friday – after Decy returns from Bandung. Please keep Dona in your prayers – he’s in quite a bit of pain right now – and is on painkillers.
Turning now towards work – what can I say except that after a 20 hr day on Monday, I worked “only” 16 hrs yesterday. Today will be a tough one … and will likely push 18 hrs (6am to midnight). Tomorrow we have a key milestone that we MUST meet.
With that, I better close. Ciao ciao. GBU.
