Old Man Morgan

The end of the Ramadhan fasting month is nearly here and will be either Sunday or Monday depending on the “sighting of the moon.” With the end comes Idul Fitri with the giving of sacrifices (by Muslims) and much celebration and visitation to family members. Millions of people will go to their home towns to be with family members. Jakarta will have about 4-5 million folks leave the city. The mass exodus has started … and will be ramping over the next few days. Main arteries will be clogged with gazillions of vehicles. Drives to nearby cities will take 2-4 times longer. In the end, for those of us who stay in Jakarta, the streets will clear, the mood will change – overall a pleasant time.

AND – with the above comes a 4 day weekend, with Monday and Tuesday being holidays. Notwithstanding the holiday …. a) I will be working some from my home (just too much to do), and b) Decy will be working at the salon as business is expected to be heavy.

Yesterday was a gruelling day which started with my needing to take a taxi to work (Pak Yono was sick) and then working non-stop from 6am until 930pm …. and then taking a taxi home. Today won’t be a whole lot better as we are trying to work some sensitivity cases on our company plan and need to have everything submitted by Friday.

This week has been a bit of a mess and I’ve hardly seen Thasya.

For many reasons, I am looking forward to the weekend – sleep, exercise, massage, miscellaneous “home” work. I hope there are no new crises at the office.
