Quickie – I Hit The Ground Running at 90 MPH
I am now back in Jakarta – arrived on Thursday, 7-Jan. As they say, there is no rest for the wicked. I was supposed to be on vacation until Monday the 11th …. and had planned on using the extra time off to update our PCs, move some files around, set up our new PS3, work on pics, rest, etc. But, so much for planning.
I could tell that things were unravelling at work beginning about 1 January as the email frequency, tone, content, etc. was escalating. However, there was only so much I could do from a distance. As I traveled back from the US, I was almost continually connected to the blackberry trying to give guidance on several key issues. Then on Tuesday the 5th it became obvious the unravelling was happening – but there was nothing I could while “in the air”.
I couldn’t go to the office on Thursday … first, there was a lot of unpacking to do; I needed to eat, shower, shave; and then organize transportation. All that would have put me in the office around 2-3pm at best. BUT, I had thrown my back out while moving suitcases around and was in considerable pain and pretty much gimped up. Thus, I had a 2.5 hour massage on Thursday afternoon to try to straighten out my back … and then did light work around the house until I collapsed at 9pm.
Woke up on Friday at 230am …. and was in the office by 6am. Worked a very solid 13 hours straight and pretty much collapsed in the car (Pak Yono was driving) at 7pm. Ate dinner as soon as I got home and went right to bed. Regrettably, I have to work in the office again today (Saturday) and will be leaving the house at 7am. I am hopeful this is only a 1/2 day’s work …. so that I can work on my home chores.
*** For those who want to know, I still don’t have a good update on Decy’s salon and Georgie. I know that Decy also worked all day at the salon Friday … and she too collapsed by the time I got home. What I do know about Georgie is that he is progressing and healing … what I don’t know is whether or not this situation is considered resolved …. or just moving to the next step. I also don’t yet know the resolution of the “fever issues” he was running into last year. I will give an update just as soon as I can.
I need to close this blog … but wanted to at least re-establish my presence.
