By the time I made it home, Decy and I were both pretty tired.  We chatted a while.  Cuddled on the couch while Wiwik prepared some soup for me.  After eating the soup, we got ready for bed … crawled in … cuddled for about 10 minutes and then were fast asleep.  By that time it was already 1115 or 1130pm.  Just having Decy close to me has incredible “healing” powers … I mean that sincerely and with no hidden words.  My life is in balance when she is with me.  We HONESTLY … only cuddled … I was fast asleep … and slept like a baby.  Woke up on my own at 300am … cuddled a bit more and then got up when the alarm went off at 315am.  I feel great this morning.

Today will be an incredibly busy day … our presentation for 10 VPs is closing in.  We do the final flip thru of the draft today.  And go to press with the 50-60 page presentation and ~100 pages of backup today.  It must be done by end-Thursday to allow the presenters time to ponder, make notes, and prepare for the big meeting.

After the meeting, things get really stressful (as if they aren’t already) when we have to make a number of adjustments to our plan … do quite a bit of additional work … and make the final submission by 20 August.  At the same time … we will be in Ramadan (fasting month), there will be a holiday, there will be some business visitors that want meetings with us, AND (if that wasn’t enough) we have to prepare a super condensed version of the presentation … for review with our company Executive VP and President …. due by end August.

*** I will be glad when this plan is over (still have clean up work to do in October).

On Thursday Decy and the girls will go to Bandung – seems Decy has a couple of scenes she will need to shoot for the telenovela.  All going well she will be back on Friday.

Regrettably, I’ll be working this weekend … and the next … and until the Plan is finished.

Other than the above, there really isn’t much to blog about … unless folks want me to opine on the weather, Obama, the BP oil spill, the stock market, etc., …. but I don’t think folks really care about my opinion on this stuff.  So … I will close for.

All the staff showed up bright and early Saturday morning – including me.  We were focussed and we worked hard throughout the day.  The staff left about 430pm and I left around 530pm.  When I got home I tried calling my mom … but she was out … so I talked to my dad (or was that Friday night?).  It had been a long time.  Afterwards, I turned on a movie and promptly fell asleep.  Woke up on the living room floor at 6am as Wiwik (one of our maids) was going around the house turning off the lights.  I crawled into bed and slept until 1130am.

After awakening I went to our exercise room and ran for 50 minutes.  Not a long run for me … but, better than nothing given the circumstances.  Took a long shower to cool down … then had a 2 hr massage.  Yahoo.  By then it was about 415pm.  I fell asleep on the living room floor again … I missed not only breakfast and lunch but also dinner.  At some point I crawled into bed … but I don’t remember what time that was.  And now, Monday morning, I am up bright and early – couldn’t drag myself out of bed at 315am … but did manage to do so at 345am.

Decy, Chely, and Nathasya are still in Bali.   Current plan is for them to return on Tuesday … unless they extend a day or two.  Last I heard, though, is they will be back on Tuesday as Decy has filming to do.

Last week was a fast moving week.  MORE than an abundance of work.  And coming home late every night.  On the positive side, however, was the fact that Decy was home the entire week.  Seems the filming company had some delays at Mt. Bromo and couldn’t return to Jakarta.  Thus, their loss was our gain … and we had a bit more time together.

On Saturday I worked most of the day, but came home in time to run a bit on the treadmill.  Afterwards, we went to dinner with another couple (Joel’s parents; Joel is Nathasya’s “boyfriend”) and then to CJs for a bit.  We didn’t stay too late and left around 115am or 130am.  Decy and I woke up around 6am but cuddled until about 8am.  She got up and exercised and I did some work on the PC.  Afterwards, we took Chely and Nathasya to 4 Seasons for brunch.  We had a good time at 4 Seasons  – although I never did eat any meat …. just shrimp, oysters, sushi, sashimi, salmon, etc. 

After 4 Seasons, we came home and Decy began packing for a shoot in Bogor and I watched a bit of TV.  At 5pm  Decy, Chely, Nathasya went to the gym to exercise and I had a massage.  Not sure how the rest of the night went, I don’t remember the end of the massage nor crawling into bed. Hmmmmm.

Today (Monday), Decy goes to Bogor for some filming and will stay overnight.  Then tomorrow (Tuesday) she has another filming, somewhere nearby.  On Wednesday morning Decy and the girls will go to Bali for a week’s vacation / rest.  I will have to stay here and work …. July and August are “no travel” months for me.  When Decy comes back … she will be behind in her filming (her scenes) so will have a very busy couple of weeks trying to catch up.  Oh well.  That is life.

Decy’s been exercising a lot – we shall see how she does in Bali.  When she can, she exercises about 2 hours a day and plays tennis several times a week.  She looks good.  She looks healthy.  She feels great – and has lots of energy.  Seems like the more she exercises the more energy she has.  Overall, I am pleased to support her efforts ….  not only does she look good for the cameras … she looks good for ME …. he he he.

Well, friends, family, readers, I need to close.  It is already almost 5am and I have much to do before leaving for work.

We are in the middle of our planning cycle.  Our IT folks are really struggling trying to understand our business and to shape their expense forecast to reflect the realities of our business in Indonesia.  Their costs are pretty significant (~$20-25M/yr).  Thus, over a 5 year planning horizon they are tryng to figure out what to do with a notional $100M worth of costs.  We have been stressfully working with IT for over 3 months on this issue.  These activities/interactions have been at the working level as well as the executive level.  Alas, after 3 months … they still don’t get it.

We are now out of time and within days of needing to lock down a planning basis (as well as establish a basis/concept for allocating real costs; not to be confused with forecast costs)  …. so who did they turn to?  You got it … a team of IT folks can’t model their costs after 3 months of effort … so the company turns to Old Man Morgan …. 1 man … 1 laptop …. 48 hours.  I received marching orders at 9am on Tuesday.

Yesterday was a bit of a blur … I had a number of meetings, plus needed to continue moving the staff forward on their activities on the Plan.  I was like a mad scientist in many ways … every once in a while popping out of my office … bring me this number I would shout … send me this data I would email.  At 8pm I came out and asked the staff if they had ordered dinner (I had completely missed lunch) - response was that because our night tme telecon to Houston was cancelled so was dinner.  Bad answer !!!  Hamburgers were soon on the way.

I inhaled my chicken burger and fries and went back to work … pull this, push that, test this … link up that …. I felt like Dr. Frankenstein.

By 10pm I was absolutely wiped out … I bolted up the last of the spreadsheets and looked at the results.  Hmmmm …. interesting …. not exactly what I expected, but I understand what the differences are.  Thus, I considered my masterpiece effectively complete.  Time to go home.

Can’t really remember when I got home … didn’t eat dinner … hugged Decy and went straight to bed, then up at 315am.  I have a 630am telecon with Houston and a 730am informal meeting with our new Sr. Public Affairs Advisor.  Afterwwards, I will dig back into the model (after a bit of rest) and see if I am happy with the results.

Bottomline …. what an army of IT folks couldn’t do in 3 months I pulled off in about 12 hours.  Just wish this type of performance would be reflected in my compensation.  Ahem …. maybe next year.

First and foremost, as most of the folks that read this blog know, my youngest son Paul William Morgan got married on Saturday, 10 July 2010.  His beautiful bride is Courtney Strawser – an intelligent, wonderful, kind, affectionate, and friendly young lady.  He has truly selected a keeper and we are very proud to have her as part of the family.  We love her dearly.  Congratulations Mr & Mrs Morgan !!!!  Regrettably, I was not able to attend the wedding.  There are certain time periods when my availability is highly restricted and July and August were “no travel” months for me.  Nevertheless, I was at the wedding in heart, spirit, and soul.

Of course, missing the wedding then added an emotional burden already on top of the physical exhaustion of working our company plan.

Decy got home from the Bromo Volcano filming on late Friday – I haven’t seen her all week.  She and Chely joined me at the  Hotel Mulia Friday night – following a company dinner I needed to attend.  My dinner ended about 10pm and the girls showed up around 11pm.  We went into CJs for some music and R&R.  We made it home around 430am.  I then had to get up in the morning and go to the office.  I barely made it – and when I got home around 4pm I was exhausted … I laid down and basically slept until 530am Sunday … then back to the office and worked the entire day.  Came home exhausted again, and barely made it to work on Monday … but was busy working away by 7am and continued until 830pm.

After getting home on Monday night, I promptly (1030pm) went to sleep right after eating (a bad thing) and slept until 315am … I’m up … and pretty much in reasonable shape today.

On a different note, Nathasya was not able to join us a CJs on Friday night because she was being filmed for some type of talk show.  She worked until past midnight.  Don’t know when they are going to air that.

Today will be another long day …. first meeting starts at 730am … last meeting is a telecon with Houston beginning at 730pm.

****  BTW  – Baby Georgie is walking now.  He’s still a sensitive lad and easy to cry … but step by step he is moving forward.  I was able to capture a 15 second video of his walking … he is soooooo tiny ….  I will try to post it this weekend either on my blog, FB, or YouTube … whichever one is easiest.

Decy is currently in Suyabaya doing a filming at the volcano named Bromo.  She occassionally has a blackberry signal and sends me periodic BBMs.  She says its pretty cold there.  All going well, she returns tomorrow evening (Friday).  Hopefully she has the weekend off so that we can enjoy some time together – including being with Chely.

Yesterday (Wednesday), Nathasya had a photo shoot.  I believe this was a “real deal” and is going to be in some advertisements.  I haven’t been able to talk to her face-to-face to get the details.  According to Decy, before she left, Nathasya would receive a nominal payment for her work.

Well, I better close this blog.  It is time for breakfast (455am) and Tini just told me it was ready.  Plus, I can’t be ”late” for work today … my first meeting (a telecon with Houston) starts at 6am.

I met Chely at the airport and brought her home.  Once home we had lunch together and with Decy and Nathasya.  Holly cow !!!  That girl really missed the Indo food – she packed it away.  Then she got a 2 massage, fell asleep until we woke her up at 7pm … for dinner.   Chely looks really good and seems to be doing well … stay tuned for more on this.

I had taken the day (Monday) off to collect Chely and relax (worked all weekend).  I played a game of Life with Nathasya and her boy friend Joel.  Ran a bit on the treadmill.  Saw a bit of Decy – she even came home early (~1030pm) and generally had a pretty relaxing day.  Only did about 3 hours work – and that was when everybody was gone or sleeping.

This morning Decy flys to Surabaya to do a shoot at Mt. Bromo (semi / primarily dormant volcano) and then comes home on Friday.  I think that Tuesday or Wednesday next week Decy, Chely, Nathasya will go to Bali for a few days.  I don’t think I will be able to get away to join them even for the weekend – July and August are my killer months of work.

On a completely different matter, for months I have on and off been trying to find free converter software for converting some old AVI video to something like MPEG. From 2002 I have some old video of Decy’s first trip to the US.  But, none of the current media software seemed to be able to read it.  Thus, after months of no success, I went ahead and downloaded a trial version of some software.  It worked great, so I bought it.  The video clips (approx 55 minutes) total length are great.  A real blast. We were having loads of fun … on vacation … and Decy was seeing parts of America and snow for the first time.  Decy’s English was still rough at the time – which makes things even funnier to watch.  I am so glad I went ahead and converted the video.

This software would work great on any old video the boys might still have from our West Coast road trip we took back in 2001 (?).  Guys, do any of you have that?

Decy had filming all weekend long.  Thus, our time together this past week has really been sound bites in the middle of the night as one of us comes home and the other leaves for work.   On Sunday, I was up bright and early and in the office at 730am (Decy had come home around 215am).  She was up and about around 11am and told me that she had another shoot that (Sunday) night and needed to leave the house around 6pm.  Thus, I quickly wrapped up my work and headed home to spend time with her.

When I arrived home, Decy was in the pool swimming laps.  She got out.  We chatted.  Shared some wine together on the patio and then went inside.  We both showered and she started getting ready for the shoot.  I laid down on the bed to wait for her and promptly fell asleep.  Eventually I woke up and we had dinner together – then she went to the filming site.

We are now in the dry season of the year.  But, we have had a lot of “unseasonal rain”.  In this case, it worked to our advantage and the shoot was rained out.  Decy came home early - approx 10pm – and we spent the evening together.  Yahoo.  Of course, because of the rain.  That means that Decy has a shoot on Monday night.  Plus, she needs to go to Surabaya to do a couple of days of shoots there (at the volcano named Bromo).  The crew is taking a bus (12-16 hrs each way) but I have told Decy that is not acceptable to me.  She will be flying to Surabaya and meeting the crew there.

Chely is currently at the gate in Singapore and will be here in Jakarta in 2 hours.  I am leaving for the airport shortly to meet her.  We are excited about her coming in.  Next week (I think) Decy, Chely, and Nathasya will go to Bali and do a bit of “vacationing.”  I will need to stay in Jakarta because of work.  Depending on their schedule I MIGHT be able to join them for a couple of days …. but it is doubtful.

Other than the above, really not much going on.  Thus, I will close this blog and wrap things up so I can head to the airport.

Yesterday was a tough day.  What started out pretty quiet (calm before the storm) grew more hectic as the day progressed.  By 8pm I was doing everything I could, as fast as I could, so I could come home.  Didn’t leave the office until 9pm – after arriving at 540am.  Ugh. Long day.  Came home - ate dinner, watched TV (business news), and then went to sleep.  It was nearly midnight by then.  Guess I shouldn’t complain ….. Decy didn’t get home from her filming until 2am.  And, as is normal, I was up at 315am.

Right now, Decy and I are almost like ships passing through the night.  Good news is that with my weird sleep habits, I can adapt quickly … which allows us to take advantage of whatever time we have together … to enjoy our time together.

On an entirely different note …. Chely is coming home VERY SOON for a visit.  She leaves the US on 3 July, travels through Moscow and arrives on our Monday morning.  Yahoo !!!  I am very excited to see her.  Chely continues to grow and mature into a beautiful young lady and I am so very proud of her.  PLUS – she just had her braces removed …. now all three of my angels are out of braces … there should be lots of smiles this summer.
